Please join us on Tuesday 15 October at The Children’s Society offices in the Old Street area of London, for an evening with fellow Drupalists, as we learn how our favourite CMS can be utilised to present interactive crossword puzzles and create local government websites.
We’ll be joined by:
- Dan Flanagan, creator of the Crossword module and suite of sub-modules — we’ll also feature a crossword from expert puzzle creator Katie Hale
- Ekes and Finn Lewis, co-creators and maintainers of LocalGov Drupal, a distribution and installation profile built to help UK councils publish public facing websites quicker, cheaper and better. To date it is used by more than 42 councils across the UK.
Crossword puzzles
Dan Flanagan’s presentation will focus on Crossword, a module that makes it easy to add crossword puzzles to your Drupal site.
Dan will describe how the module creates a Crossword field type which can then be rendered in many different ways as a playable puzzle, an image, or a file.
We are also very fortunate to feature a special, Meetup-specific crossword by Katie Hale, LA Times Crossword Editor and New York Times puzzle contributor.
The publishing platform created by councils for councils: LocalGov Drupal
LocalGov Drupal (LGD) is a remarkable project. In more than 42 councils across the UK, it delivers a better digital experience for citizens, improves service outcomes, and saves councils money.
Finn Lewis and Ekes will discuss the project, its origins and the many benefits it offers.
They’ll address how LGD websites enable local authorities to create numerous microsites via the group sites model, and how the project can reduce the cost of building a new website by up to 80%, leaving local authorities resources to do more.
Venue
This event is hosted by The Children’s Society, at their office in Whitecross Studios / Octavia House in East London.
